The Women’s Foundation of Palm Beach County needs your help to identify women leaders who should run for office. We are holding a non-partisan training on September 26th to empower women with the skills to run for elected office. If you know a woman you think should get ready to run, please share the above training flyer with them and please click here to nominate them. Women can register on their own, but research shows women need to be encourage and asked to run several times. If you nominate them using this link, the Women’s Foundation will email them and call them letting them know they have been nominated and we want them to attend.
Women on the Run is a year-long interactive training and mentoring program for women interested in running for office or serving in a leadership role of a community organization. The program starts with a one-day training with our partner Wellstone Action, a premier center for political leadership development. Participants in the training on September 26th will gain:
- “How to” plans on running for office
- Fundraising and communications skills
- Real-world advice and best practices from experts
- Strategies for positioning oneself for public leadership
- Inspiration to launch a campaign
In addition, Women on the Run moves beyond the traditional campaign training by providing ongoing support. All participants will be assigned an elected official who will serve as a mentor and receive a Women on the Run Leadership Circle membership. Intimate support circles will meet each quarter for the next year with an elected official to continue their training and provide a network of other women running for office.
Research shows that increasing women in elected office can make government more transparent and inclusive. The Women’s Foundation is committed to engaging a critical mass of women to run simultaneously to change the way government works. We invite you to join this non-partisan movement to ensure women are visible, valued and heard in Palm Beach County.
We also welcome your support as a partner and sponsor. If you want to get more involved, please review the 2015 Women on the Run sponsorship information above.
