This year the GLI will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to provide participants with the opportunity to learn more about the different opportunities in these fields and gain valuable hands on experience through the STEM centered projects they will create.
We are looking for individuals and companies in STEM fields to participate in the 2015 Girls Leadership Institute in a number of different ways. Will you help us?
1. STEM Fair: We invite companies and organizations to set up a table during the lunch program to provide information about the work you do. We also ask that you have someone at the table to answer questions and speak with participants.
2. STEM Project Breakouts: We are looking for 8-10 companies or community organizations to lead STEM breakouts; each will guide a group of participants through a STEM based project. Some examples include building a car from food products or building a robot or designing a website. The student groups will work with the project leaders from your company and will present their projects at the end of the day.
3. Women in STEM Careers Lunch Program: We are looking for women who are currently working in a STEM career to share their experience and passion with participants during the lunch hour as part of a “speed mentoring” program.
4. Sponsors: We always appreciate financial support from individuals and local companies that want to empower girls. Sponsorship packages are available.
